| Job Description |
A bank in Scarborough is looking for a Java Developer in Mainframe etc.This team supports and enhances the Cheque Image Hub (CIH) application. This application supports the Bank’s Cheque Image Program & various image delivery channels.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Development, the Lead Programmer Analyst will provide Technical & Cheque processing expertise. The Lead Programmer Analyst will also develop solutions and providing production support, resulting in a positive impact to the team and Bank as a whole.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Application analysis and design, and development for the Cheque Processing Hub application.
2. Assist technical resources in the analysis of business requirements in order to establish the technical feasibility of proposed initiatives.
3. Responsible for the assessment and scoping of projects (from a development work effort perspective).
4. Ensure a timely delivery of quality products/functions which meet end-user requirements and that are developed following The bank's development standards and methodology.
5. Responsible for performance analysis (from an application and environment perspective) and make recommendations to improve operational effectiveness.
6. Work in a development team comprising both the bank and staff and external consulting resources as required.
7. Deal effectively with external vendors, external business partners, and internal stakeholders.
8. Must be able to work within tight deadlines and schedules which may result in external work hours to meet project deliverables.
9. Effectively communicate with departmental application development team members, management, and with the wider Information Technology Department's Architecture Office.
10 Assist with production support by:
• Joining bridge calls to address production issues
• Carrying a production support phone for after-hours support, and
• Investigating customer support issues.

Must have skills/Nice to have skills
• Must have 7 to 10 years of progressive software development working experience.
• Must have excellent communication (verbal/written) skills.
• Must possess expertise in the following – Core Java programming / Java Collections Frameworks / Java Inheritance / Java Concurrencies; AIX / UNIX shell scripting & SQL scripting on DB2 (versions 9.x/10.x).
• Must have technical working experience in production level operational design and support addressing best practices / designs for scalability, robustness, redundancy, system management, alert management, change management, and configuration management.
• Nice to have the following - Windows OS (Windows scripting), XML & related technologies (SAX and DOM Parsers); WebSphere Application Server 8.x.; Build API (ANT to generate/create jar files); Rational ClearCase; Crystal Reports for Java; WebSphere MQ & concepts of Middleware Technologies and Application Integration; IDE using Rational Software Architect 7.x/Rational Application Developer 7.x & Eclipse.
• 3 to 5 years of technical working experience in the financial industry is an asset.
• Nice to have familiarity with the following - Cheque Payment types; IBM Mainframe and Cobol or IBM AS/400; various file & coding types (EBCDIC & ASCII); IBM Payment Director for Cheque Processing and Application Security practices like 2 way SSL, Certificates etc.
